Putting on my tinfoil hat. Maybe they don't want us to know it is all melted so they can keep the trail closed longer?

This was 10 days ago, it hasn't snowed, it's empty.

The trail should open the first week of August.

Has anyone verified the status of the system?

The host site for the entire system is down . . . http://cdec.water.ca.gov/

I've been emailing the Forest Service about a different trail, and they said that Deer Valley would be opening in early August. Here is an except from the email.

---

This year we have a pretty full schedule. Deer Valley will be opening in early August and repairs are scheduled for later that month into early September. We also plan to repair the Meadow Lake road 9N01 and Forest Road 9N95 this year. Long Valley motorcycle trail was on our list for next year but we may have a small crew that could get that completed this summer.

Lastly, Allen Camp motorcycle trail is still undergoing the NEPA analysis. I anticipate that decision this year with implementation in 2018 or 2019.

---

Did the FS actually put up gates at Blue Lakes and Hermit Valley like they said they would? Hate to say it, but if the trail is closed, they need to have a means to keep it closed. When open, open it. No gate means people will use it when not open, and the end result is more trail closures.

Can't wait to hit the trail again.

Saw Horses = gate? You would think the FS would follow up with their plan, what ever their plan is.
